You have to make it rewarding, in every way, for people to keep doing what they are doing. It is the Leaders job to build the kind of work environment that attracts, focuses, and keeps talented employees.
- Do I know what is expected of me at work?
- Do I have the materials and equipment I need to do my work right?
- At work, do I have the opportunity to do what I do best every day?
- In the last seven days, have I relieved recognition or praise for good work?
- Does my supervisor, or someone at work, seem to care about me as a person?
- Is there someone at work who encourages my development?
- At work, does my opinion seem to count?
- Does the mission/purpose of my company make me feel like my work is important?
- Are my co-workers committed o doing quality work?
- Do I have a best friend at work?
- In the last six months, have I talked wit someone about my progress?
- At work, have I had opportunities to learn and grow?
Don't you find a lot of this is a tad pop-psychy? In my experience a lot of writers seem to contradict each other, and often themselves in consecutive books.
ReplyDeleteActually not on this one. As basic as these questions were I thought they were brilliant. Also, this was deducted from a gallop interview of 1,000,000 people.
